Richard Campbell has over 17 year’s expertise in cycling and sustainable transportation.
He is a founder of the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition, the British Columbia Cycling Coalition (BCCC) and Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST). In his role of Manager of Active Transportation for BEST, he coordinated cycling promotional, educational and research initiatives, including the Freewheeling’ Cycling Guide, Bike Month, valet bicycle parking, and the Business Case for Active Transportation. He has successfully championed the 30 km. Central Valley Greenway, wider sidewalks on the Lions Gate Bridge, and the bicycle path on the Canada Line Bridge.
Richard is currently a Director of the BCCC and a member of the City of Vancouver’s Bicycle Advisory Committee.
Prior to his work at BEST, he had twenty years of experience in computer software engineering as lead designer of figure animation tools.
Richard did not have a bicycle as a child and did not learn how to cycle until his early twenties. Ever since, he has been making up for lost time.
